A Consultant Neonatologist at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Professor Ngozi Edi-Osagie, has been shortlisted for the B.A.M.E Clinician of the Year award at the National B.A.M.E Health & Care Awards 2026 in the United Kingdom.
Edi-Osagie was recognised for her contribution to neonatal healthcare and her leadership in improving the quality, safety and delivery of neonatal services across England.
In her national leadership role, she oversees quality assurance, patient safety and strategic transformation across neonatal services in the country.
One of her major achievements has been leading the implementation of universal pulse oximetry testing for newborn babies across England.
The screening programme is designed to detect low oxygen levels in newborns at an early stage, enabling healthcare professionals to provide timely treatment and intervention for babies who may require urgent medical attention.
Her work has also focused on promoting equity in neonatal care and improving health outcomes for newborn babies and their families.
Saint Mary’s Hospital, in celebrating her nomination, described her recognition as a reflection of her commitment to improving neonatal services and ensuring better care for babies.
The hospital also congratulated all its colleagues shortlisted for the 2026 B.A.M.E Health & Care Awards and wished them success at the awards ceremony.
