In the ever-evolving world of technology and digital transformation, two Nigerian innovators are making waves Olaoluwa Awolola and Oluwafemi Ogunniyi, co-founders of FinxHost, a fast-rising web hosting and digital solutions company redefining online reliability and business empowerment across Africa.
While Olaoluwa brings over a decade of engineering depth, systems intelligence, and service excellence, Oluwafemi injects entrepreneurial drive, marketing insight, and creative direction into the brand’s DNA. Together, they embody the perfect blend of technical precision and business vision—two sides of the same coin fueling one mission: to make Africa’s digital space faster, safer, and smarter.
Meet the Visionaries
Olaoluwa Awolola is an accomplished Technical Support Engineer with more than ten years of experience in IT service management, system administration, and embedded systems design. He holds an MSc in Embedded Systems and IC Design from Liverpool John Moores University, UK, and a BEng in Computer Engineering from Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria.
A Graduate Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Olaoluwa also holds ITIL 4 and CAITSM certifications, demonstrating his deep commitment to global IT service excellence.
Oluwafemi Ogunniyi, on the other hand, is a dynamic entrepreneur, front-end developer, and digital marketing strategist with over five years of experience in helping businesses expand their online presence. As Co-founder and Managing Director of FinxHost, he leads the company’s strategic direction and client growth, ensuring that innovation remains at the heart of every service delivered.
In this exclusive interview with The Africa Media, the FinxHost Co-founders share their journey, their inspiration, and their vision for Africa’s digital future.
TAM: Let’s start with your journey. How did you both meet, and how did FinxHost come to life?
Oluwafemi:
My journey into tech and entrepreneurship started from a desire to build something that truly adds value. I noticed a gap in the market — web hosting in Nigeria was either unreliable, overpriced, or poorly supported. I wanted to change that. Along the way, I met Olaoluwa, whose technical depth perfectly complemented my entrepreneurial vision. We shared the same goal — to create a hosting company that blends reliability, security, and performance. That’s how FinxHost was born.
Olaoluwa:
It was a natural synergy. I had spent years in IT service delivery and system optimization, and I saw firsthand how much businesses struggled with uptime and system performance. When Oluwafemi shared his vision, it instantly clicked. We both wanted to build something that truly empowers businesses, not just hosts them.
TAM: What makes FinxHost stand out in the crowded web hosting space?
Olaoluwa:
FinxHost is built on precision, performance, and people. We don’t just host websites we support business growth. From shared hosting to VPS and dedicated servers, we ensure every client enjoys reliability, speed, and dedicated technical support. Our background in engineering allows us to design systems that perform optimally under any condition.
Oluwafemi:
Exactly. We also go beyond hosting we help clients with domain registration, web and app development, social media management, and even business registration in Nigeria, the UK, and the US. FinxHost is more than a hosting company — it’s a digital growth partner for ambitious brands.
TAM: Olaoluwa, as a seasoned engineer, what’s your approach to maintaining system excellence and user trust?
Olaoluwa:
For me, it’s about proactive service and continuous improvement. Technical support is not just about fixing issues — it’s about preventing them. We monitor systems 24/7, optimize performance, and build user confidence through consistent reliability. Every ticket resolved is a promise kept, and that’s what builds long-term trust.
TAM: FinxHost also runs an academy. What’s the vision behind that?
Oluwafemi:
FinxHost Academy is our way of giving back and building the next generation of tech innovators. We’re training young people in web development, digital marketing, and IT support. Our goal is to bridge the tech skills gap in Africa and create more employable, self-reliant professionals.
We believe that empowerment begins with knowledge and Africa’s digital future depends on how much we invest in its human capital today.
TAM: What challenges have you faced as founders, and how have you overcome them?
Oluwafemi:
Building a startup in Africa comes with hurdles — from funding to infrastructure. But perseverance and creativity always find a way. We focus on delivering value, and that’s what keeps customers coming back.
Olaoluwa:
Another challenge is staying ahead of technological change. The tech world moves fast, so we prioritize continuous learning, certifications, and research. Our strength lies in staying agile and always thinking a few steps ahead.
TAM: What trends do you see shaping the future of technology and web hosting in Africa?
Olaoluwa:
Automation, AI-driven customer support, and sustainable data centers are the future. We’re entering an era where systems can self-heal, predict issues, and enhance user experience without human intervention. Africa must be part of that conversation.
Oluwafemi:
Also, the demand for managed hosting, cloud services, and cybersecurity solutions is growing fast. The businesses that will thrive are those that combine speed, innovation, and security. That’s exactly where FinxHost is heading.
TAM: Finally, what advice would you give to young Africans aspiring to build a career or business in tech?
Olaoluwa:
Focus on mastering your craft and stay curious. Tech is about solving real problems, not just coding or configuring servers. Build skills that create value and impact.
Oluwafemi:
And don’t wait for perfect conditions — start where you are. Learn, build, fail, and try again. Every great company started with an idea and a lot of persistence. Africa’s tech space is open for dreamers who are ready to work.
