Trump Advised to Lose Weight Despite Clean Bill of Health in Latest Medical Report

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump has been advised to lose weight and increase physical activity following his latest medical examination, even as White House physicians described him as being in excellent overall health.

According to the health assessment released by White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella, the 79-year-old president remains “fully fit” to carry out the duties of his office and continues to demonstrate strong cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological and physical health.

The report revealed that Trump currently weighs 238 pounds, an increase of approximately 14 pounds compared to his previous physical examination conducted in April 2025. As part of the evaluation, Barbabella recommended lifestyle adjustments, including greater physical activity and dietary changes aimed at helping the president reduce his weight.

Despite the weight gain, the assessment presented a generally positive picture of Trump’s health. The report addressed several medical issues that have attracted public attention in recent months, including chronic venous insufficiency — a condition affecting blood flow in the legs — and the bruising frequently visible on the president’s hands.

According to the physician, the bruising is consistent with minor soft tissue irritation caused by frequent handshaking while undergoing aspirin therapy. The medication is reportedly being used as a preventive measure against cardiovascular complications. Barbabella also indicated that he advised the president to reduce his aspirin dosage.

However, the report did not reference a skin rash that was visible on Trump’s neck earlier this year. In March, the White House said the irritation was linked to a commonly used topical cream prescribed as a preventive skin treatment.

While the dermatological section of the medical evaluation reviewed the president’s skin health, it made no mention of the rash or the treatment previously cited by the White House.

The release of the report comes amid continuing public debate over Trump’s health and fitness for office. Questions surrounding both his physical condition and cognitive abilities have remained a topic of discussion throughout his political career.

Trump has historically been selective about releasing personal medical information. During the 2024 presidential campaign, he declined to make his full medical records public.

Health disclosures involving the president have drawn attention for years. During his first presidential campaign in 2015, his longtime physician, the late Dr. Harold Bornstein, issued a widely publicized statement describing Trump as potentially “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.” Bornstein later said the letter had been dictated by Trump.

Recent polling suggests many Americans remain unconvinced about the president’s health. A survey conducted by The Washington Post, ABC News and Ipsos found that 59 percent of respondents questioned Trump’s mental fitness for the presidency, while 55 percent expressed concerns about his physical ability to perform the responsibilities of the office.

The latest medical report, however, maintains that the president remains capable of carrying out his duties while encouraging steps to improve his overall fitness and manage his weight.
