Suspected gunmen have attacked Igbosi Community in Idogun, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, abducting a nine-year-old boy and injuring a resident during the early hours of Friday.
According to reports, the attackers stormed the community and began shooting indiscriminately, causing panic among residents. Several houses were vandalised, while property worth an undisclosed amount was damaged during the attack.
The gunfire forced many residents to flee their homes and seek refuge in nearby bushes to avoid being caught in the violence.
The abducted child has been identified as Olaosebikan Victor, the son of a well-known pastor in the community. His whereabouts remain unknown as efforts to secure his release continue.
The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the incident and assured residents that security operatives are actively pursuing those responsible.
According to the police, an intensive manhunt and search-and-rescue operation has been launched to locate the kidnapped boy and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Authorities have urged members of the public to remain calm and provide any useful information that could assist ongoing investigations and rescue efforts.
