Sudanese Asylum Seeker ‘Threatened to Stab’ Day Before Glasgow Rampage

An asylum seeker who stabbed six people in a Glasgow hotel had made threats just a day before the attack, an inquiry has heard.

Badreddin Abdalla Adam Bosh, 28, was shot dead by police after launching the knife rampage at the Park Inn in June 2020, leaving a constable and five others injured.

At a preliminary hearing on Monday, Sheriff Principal Aisha Anwar referred to transcripts suggesting Bosh had issued warnings 24 hours earlier. Police Scotland’s lawyer confirmed the threats had been made.

The Sudanese national was among hundreds of asylum seekers moved from flats to hotels during the Covid pandemic — a policy critics said put vulnerable people at risk.

Three fellow asylum seekers, two hotel workers and PC David Whyte were stabbed during the frenzied attack. Officers initially tried non-lethal weapons before Bosh was fatally shot.

The Fatal Accident Inquiry (FAI) heard that 700 witness statements have been submitted, with evidential hearings expected to last up to five weeks. Expert reports, including on firearms, are still pending.

The inquiry resumes in December, when a final list of witnesses will be confirmed for cross-examination.
