According to military authorities, the rescue followed intensified search-and-rescue efforts targeting criminal groups operating in the area. Troops reportedly engaged the kidnappers at Tunga Village during ongoing offensive operations.

During the encounter, the bandits allegedly shot Mrs Abubakar before abandoning her and fleeing as security forces advanced on their location. The military said she was immediately evacuated to a military medical facility, where she is currently receiving treatment and responding positively.

In a statement signed by the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, the Armed Forces assured the public that all necessary medical and welfare support would be provided to aid her recovery and assist her family. The military also reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing those responsible for the abduction and other criminal activities, vowing to sustain operations against terrorists and bandits across affected communities.
