A dramatic drone rescue helped save a stranded resident after severe flooding swept through China’s Guangxi region on July 6.
The incident occurred after torrential floodwaters trapped two men on top of a tanker truck, leaving them surrounded by fast-rising water with no safe route to escape.
Videos recorded by local residents captured the extraordinary rescue as an industrial drone lowered a harness to one of the stranded men before carefully lifting him into the air and transporting him to safety.
Emergency responders used the drone after conventional rescue methods were made difficult by the strong currents and submerged roads.
The rescue highlighted the growing role of heavy-lift drones in disaster response, particularly in areas where flooding or other extreme conditions prevent rescuers from reaching victims quickly.
Authorities continued rescue and relief operations across parts of Guangxi as heavy rainfall caused widespread flooding, disrupting transportation and forcing evacuations in several communities.
