Nigeria crush Jamaica 3-0 to Retain Unity Cup Title

The Super Eagles of Nigeria successfully defended their Unity Cup crown with an impressive 3-0 victory over Jamaica in the tournament final at The Valley in London on Saturday 30th May 2026.

A brace from Alhassan Yusuf and a goal from Terem Moffi secured a comfortable win for Nigeria, who produced a dominant performance against the Reggae Boyz. The victory ensured that coach Eric Chelle and his team successfully retained the title they won last year.

Nigeria made a bright start and took the lead just four minutes into the match. Yusuf capitalised on a loose ball inside the penalty area after Jamaica goalkeeper Teddy Sharman-Lowe had made an initial save, reacting quickly to slot home the rebound. The Super Eagles maintained control for much of the encounter and continued to create the better chances as Jamaica struggled to break through Nigeria’s defence.

Their dominance was rewarded again in the 59th minute when Moffi doubled the advantage. A well-delivered cross from Femi Azeez found the striker inside the box, and he headed firmly past the Jamaican goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

Jamaica enjoyed periods of possession but failed to create clear-cut opportunities. The Caribbean side appealed for a penalty after a collision involving goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo and Kaheim Dixon, but the referee waved away the claims.

Nigeria remained in control until the closing stages and put the result beyond doubt in stoppage time when Yusuf scored his second goal of the evening to complete a convincing 3-0 triumph. The win further strengthened Nigeria’s impressive record in the Unity Cup, with the Super Eagles now winning all four editions of the competition since it was first held in 2002.
