Boko Haram Attacks Military Base, Burns Police Post in Borno

Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists attacked Logomani community in Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State, setting a police outpost and a primary healthcare centre on fire after launching an assault on a military base.

According to the military, the insurgents attempted to overrun the Forward Operating Base in Logomani but were repelled by troops of Operation Hadin Kai after an intense firefight.

The Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Capt. Muhammed Goni, said the troops quickly regrouped and launched a counter-offensive that inflicted heavy casualties on the attackers, forcing the surviving terrorists to flee with gunshot wounds.

He confirmed that one soldier was killed during the encounter, while two military gun trucks and some combat equipment were damaged.

The military also disclosed that troops recently rescued two abducted victims during a search-and-rescue operation in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

During the operation, they recovered ₦1.2 million suspected to be proceeds of criminal activities, along with food supplies and other logistics believed to have supported terrorist operations.

The rescued victims have since been taken to a secure location, where they are receiving medical treatment and psychosocial support as security operations continue across the North-East.
