Egypt Bus Crash in Sinai Kills 22, Injures 28

At least 22 people have been killed and 28 others injured in a bus crash in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, authorities said on Wednesday.

The death toll was initially put at 16 before officials revised the figure to 22.

State media reported that 10 Jordanian nationals were among those killed in the crash, while Egypt’s Health Ministry said the injured victims were taken to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

The accident occurred on a road linking the Red Sea resort towns of Dahab and Nuweiba, an area popular with tourists for its beaches and mountainous landscapes.

Authorities have yet to disclose the cause of the crash or say whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

Road accidents are relatively common in Egypt and have frequently been attributed to reckless driving, poor vehicle maintenance and inconsistent enforcement of traffic regulations.

Nearly 6,000 people were killed in road crashes across Egypt in 2025, according to official figures.
