Egypt and China have signed a series of agreements aimed at strengthening economic cooperation, technology development and digital-sector ties between both countries.
The agreements were signed on Wednesday in Cairo during talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
The two leaders oversaw the signing of the deals as they discussed ways to deepen bilateral relations and expand cooperation across key sectors of their economies.
According to Chinese state media, Xi called on Egypt and China to reject what he described as “unilateral acts of bullying” and urged both countries to work together in promoting a more equitable international order.
He also called for greater cooperation between Beijing and Cairo towards what he described as “a more just and equitable global governance system.”
The Chinese president arrived in the Egyptian capital on Tuesday evening for the visit and was received by el-Sisi and military guards during a red-carpet ceremony at the airport.
Xi’s visit is expected to further strengthen China’s economic and strategic relationship with Egypt, which has increasingly deepened its cooperation with Beijing in infrastructure, trade, technology and other areas.
The latest agreements underscore the growing focus by both countries on economic partnership and digital development as they seek to expand bilateral cooperation.
