A Nigerian woman who travelled from Lagos to Doha, Qatar, has reportedly been unreachable for more than 48 hours after arriving in the country, raising concerns among her family and prompting inquiries with the airline and relevant authorities.
The 37-year-old woman reportedly boarded Qatar Airways flight QR1408 from Lagos International Airport to Doha on Tuesday.
Her brother, Jonathan Jibo, said in a post on X that the family’s last communication with her was through WhatsApp while she was still aboard the aircraft, using the flight’s Wi-Fi.
According to Jibo, the flight arrived safely in Doha, with a person designated by the family already waiting at the airport to receive her. However, she reportedly did not meet the person who came to pick her up.
The family subsequently contacted the airport and the airline to establish her whereabouts. Jibo said the airline reportedly informed them that she had collected her luggage.
The development has heightened the family’s concern because the woman is familiar with airport procedures, having worked at Lagos Airport for nearly 12 years.
Jibo said his sister was travelling abroad for the first time and had no friends or known contacts in Qatar.
He added that she had made arrangements for accommodation and other aspects of her trip months before travelling and was expected to resume work in Doha several weeks after her arrival.
The family has continued efforts to establish her whereabouts and determine what happened after she arrived in Doha.
Another X user, @digitalWorldB, also drew attention to the case by tagging the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu, in the post.
The circumstances surrounding the woman’s disappearance remain unclear as efforts continue to locate her.
