Poco Lee to Appear in London Court on September 15 Over Alleged Assault

Popular Nigerian dancer and hypeman Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, is reportedly being held on remand in the United Kingdom and is expected to appear before a London court next month over an alleged assault case.

According to Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby and founder of a Nigerian community organisation in the UK, Poco Lee’s next court appearance is scheduled for September 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Kuti disclosed this while speaking with PUNCH on Monday, saying the dancer is currently in a UK prison awaiting his court proceedings.

“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison,” Kuti said. What will happen in court? Kuti explained that the September hearing is expected to be a plea hearing, where Poco Lee would ordinarily be asked to indicate whether he pleads guilty or not guilty to the allegation.

He also said he intends to attend the proceedings to support Poco Lee and other members of the Nigerian community in the UK. According to Kuti, the hearing is expected to take place at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London. Reports of arrest surfaced online Reports concerning Poco Lee’s alleged detention in the UK began circulating on social media on August 19.

However, the initial reports did not publicly identify the alleged complainant or provide detailed information about the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence. There was also initially no independent confirmation from UK police or the court regarding the reported arrest. As of the time of PUNCH’s report, an email sent to the court seeking confirmation of the hearing details had not received a response.

Poco Lee remains presumed innocent Kuti stressed the importance of allowing the legal process to run its course, noting that an accused person remains innocent until proven guilty by a court. The September 15 hearing is therefore expected to provide more clarity on the case and the allegation against the Nigerian entertainer.
