Tinubu Ends Europe Vacation, Returns To Lagos For Abiola Tribute, 2027 Consultations

President Bola Tinubu has ended his working vacation in Europe and departed Paris for Lagos.

His aircraft is expected to land at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, later today, Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the departure in a statement on Tuesday.

According to Onanuga, the President is flying into Lagos first to honour the memory of Chief MKO Abiola, winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.

Tinubu will attend the premiere of a movie in honour of Abiola on Independence Day at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.

He will also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates in Lagos over several days ahead of the 2027 elections, before returning to Abuja.

President Tinubu left Abuja on August 30 for the vacation. He spent one week in London before proceeding to Paris.

While in Paris, he attended a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and met with business leaders including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group. On Monday, he also met with the Chairman of First HoldCo, Femi Otedola.

Last week, the President witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World to build a Gateway deep seaport in Ogun Waterside and a Blue Marine Economic Zone, with a planned $7 billion investment by the global logistics firm.
