Julius Agwu reveals brain surgery affected his sexual function

Nigerian comedian and actor Julius Agwu has revealed that he experienced a loss of sexual function following brain surgery he underwent in the United States in 2015.

Agwu made the disclosure during a recent episode of the Beer Parlour Talk Show, uploaded on Saturday, while reflecting on the lasting effects of his health challenges on his body, career and personal life.

The comedian underwent brain surgery in 2015 after doctors reportedly discovered three tumours in his brain, with one said to be about the size of a golf ball.

During the programme, the host asked whether the brain condition or the surgery had affected other aspects of his health, including his sexual function.

Responding in Pidgin English, Agwu said, “After I do am, prick no dey work again now. He no dey work.”

Other participants on the programme, including Mr Patrick, subsequently discussed the possible involvement of nerves connected to the brain while attempting to explain the effect described by Agwu.

The comedian also spoke about his contribution to Nigeria’s entertainment industry, particularly his role in popularising a blend of music and comedy.

“Music comedy na me form am o, that is to tell you how my brain dey work,” he said.

The conversation later took an emotional turn as Agwu broke down in tears while reflecting on his career, relationships and the people he said withdrew from him during his difficult period.

“God wey I dey serve, anybody wey get hand for wetin happen to me. I go dey look. My friends deserted me. They stopped talking to me, many of them. It is well,” he said.

Agwu has previously spoken publicly about his battle with brain tumours and the challenges he faced during his recovery.
