A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter on Wednesday made an emergency landing on a farmland in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, with all crew members reportedly escaping safely.
The incident occurred at Utur Tse-Igboji in Bar Council Ward, along the Welfare Quarters–Mopol 13 Ring Road, according to eyewitness accounts.
An eyewitness, Stephen Ikpam, said the helicopter developed a technical fault while in operation, prompting the crew to make an emergency landing.
Residents reportedly rushed to the scene after the incident and assisted the officers on board.
There were no immediate reports of fatalities or injuries, as all those on board were said to have survived the incident and exited the helicopter safely.
The incident comes two days after a Nigerian Air Force aircraft crashed in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State, resulting in the deaths of 25 personnel.
The cause of Wednesday’s emergency landing had not been officially confirmed by the Air Force as of press time.
The Benue State Police Command had also yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
