Fire Breaks Out on New York’s Brooklyn Bridge During Independence Day Celebrations

A fire broke out on New York City’s iconic Brooklyn Bridge during Independence Day celebrations, triggering panic among spectators as thick black smoke rose from the historic landmark.

Witnesses said multiple fires erupted almost simultaneously on the bridge while fireworks were underway, prompting an emergency response from firefighters and police.

One eyewitness, Khoula, said she saw four separate fires ignite on the bridge, adding that several fireworks appeared to explode after the flames broke out.

“It started as a small fire and got bigger,” another witness, Mohamed Shaban, said, noting that heavy black smoke quickly spread across the area.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene as the fireworks display came to an end. Flashing lights from fire and police vehicles were later seen on the bridge while authorities worked to secure the area.

During his address marking the 250th anniversary of the United States, President Donald Trump referenced the Brooklyn Bridge and displayed a flag associated with the landmark, although he did not comment directly on the fire.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the incident or reported any injuries. The New York Fire Department and the New York Police Department are expected to provide further details as investigations continue.
