Two Unfinished Chinese High-Rises Demolished in Seconds Near North Korea Border

Two unfinished high-rise buildings were brought down in a controlled demolition in the northeastern Chinese city of Dandong on Tuesday, ending years of abandonment.

The towers, which stood close to China’s border with North Korea, had remained incomplete after construction on the project stalled for several years. In a carefully coordinated operation, demolition experts used controlled explosives to collapse both structures within seconds.

Footage from the scene showed the buildings crumbling rapidly as clouds of dust spread across the surrounding area. Authorities carried out the demolition as part of efforts to clear the long-abandoned site and make way for future redevelopment.

No injuries or major incidents were reported during the operation. The demolition marks the end of a project that had become a prominent symbol of stalled development in the border city.
