Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has married his longtime partner, model and influencer Georgina Rodríguez, in a civil ceremony in Portugal.
Ronaldo shared a photograph on Instagram showing two hands wearing wedding rings, with one hand believed to be his and the other belonging to Rodríguez. The post quickly attracted more than three million likes within 30 minutes.
Couple Ties the Knot in Portugal
Portuguese media reported that the couple got married on August 11 in the coastal town of Cascais, near Lisbon. Their five children were also reportedly present at the ceremony.
The wedding marks a new chapter for the couple, who have been together for about a decade.
Ronaldo and Rodríguez first met at a Gucci store in Madrid, where Rodríguez was working while Ronaldo was playing for Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Engagement Announced Last Year
The couple announced their engagement on August 11 last year, with Rodríguez sharing a photograph of a large engagement ring.
She captioned the post in Spanish, writing: “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.”
Ronaldo has enjoyed one of football’s most successful careers, representing Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Al Nassr and Portugal.
The Portuguese forward has scored nearly 1,000 goals during his career and recently made his sixth appearance at a men’s FIFA World Cup, a record he shares with Argentina captain Lionel Messi.
The marriage brings the longtime couple’s relationship into a new chapter after years together and raising their family.
