Security operatives in Borno State have intercepted a large shipment of medical materials suspected to have been destined for members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) operating in parts of the North-East.
The operation was reportedly carried out by personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS) in collaboration with forest guards during a coordinated raid in Kaga Local Government Area of the state.
According to security sources, the seizure followed intelligence reports pointing to the movement of supplies through routes allegedly used by insurgent logistics networks within forested communities.
Items recovered during the operation reportedly included large quantities of antibiotics, anti-malaria medications, pain-relief drugs, injections, and other pharmaceutical products. Authorities also recovered additional consumables believed to be intended to support insurgent activities.
Investigators suspect the supplies were meant to assist fighters who may have been affected by recent military operations targeting terrorist strongholds in the region.
Sources indicated that the intercepted consignment may be linked to efforts to replenish resources within ISWAP camps following a series of intelligence-driven offensives conducted by Nigerian security forces alongside international partners.
Although officials have not released full operational details, the seizure was described as part of broader efforts to disrupt terrorist supply chains and cut off access to essential resources used by insurgent groups.
Preliminary findings suggest the materials were being transported in small, concealed quantities through remote forest routes in an attempt to avoid detection by security patrols.
The recovered items have since been taken into custody for further examination, while security agencies continue investigations aimed at identifying individuals connected to the supply network.
Authorities are also expected to intensify surveillance and counter-terrorism operations across key areas of the state to prevent future attempts to move supplies to insurgent enclaves.
