Two South African women appeared in court on Monday over the alleged murder of one of nine women whose bodies were discovered near Johannesburg, as police reported finding a 10th body.
The nine bodies were discovered in Kempton Park over a two-month period, sparking public concern and anger. The two women are among three suspects arrested over the weekend in connection with the death of Jabulile Ntimba, whose body was found earlier this month.
Prosecutors said the two suspects, both in their 30s, were charged with murder, perverting the course of justice and possession of a dangerous weapon.
The third suspect, who is the brother of one of the women, has not been charged because of insufficient evidence, according to prosecutors.
The two women are expected to return to court on October 1 for a bail hearing.
Police said they were investigating whether the killings could have been linked to a relationship-related dispute, including what has been described as a possible love triangle.
South Africa continues to record a high level of violent crime, with an average of about 60 murders reported each day.
